Astrology, chapter 6 of 13
The twelve signs
The signs are twelve 30° segments of the ecliptic (the Sun's apparent path), starting from the spring equinox at 0° Aries. Western astrology uses this tropical zodiac, tied to the seasons; Vedic (Jyotish) astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, tied to the constellations, currently about 24° behind. A sign is a style or filter, not an actor: it colours whatever planet sits in it.
Read the signs as a developmental story: from Aries (the first spark of individual life) to Pisces (dissolution back into the whole). And read them in pairs of opposites (Aries–Libra, Taurus–Scorpio, etc.): each sign's shadow is often healed by learning from its opposite.
